RE: Watch your tire pressure at Wal-Mart

If I have the Sport Trac serviced at Wally World, I tell them not to touch the tires, since there are PressurePro sensors on the valve stems.

Strange, saw this yesterday, can't believe the mods have let it continue. Must be on vacation or at a rally.

RE: Wayward kids wandering into campsite

AS fulltimer's our favorite time of year is just around the corner. School! At least we don't have to put up with the lack of parenting during the week, most of the time.

RE: $670 for a 454 intake manifold gasket replacement?

Sounds like a deal to me. 6 years ago our son lost the intake manifold gasket on a '97, V-6, Monte Carlo at Purdue U. $790 tapped to "our" credit card by the garage.

Goshen, IN.. Pilgrim layoffs

Pilgrim lays off 160 workers THE GOSHEN NEWS MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — Pilgrim International officials have laid off 160 of their employees and temporarily ceased all operations, according to partner Dave Hoefer Sr. “We are in the process of negotiations with the bank. Right now we’re not running any production,” he said. According to Hoefer, officials at the Middlebury-based recreation vehicle manufacturer won’t know anything more of their situation until sometime next week. “The sad thing is the people, the families, everything affected. But we have to look at it all,” he said. “I am distressed to learn of the job losses in the last two days for employees of both Keystone RV Co. in Goshen and Pilgrim International in Middlebury,” U.S. Rep. Mark Souder, R-3rd, said in a press release. “I am especially concerned for the hardworking Hoosier families who will be affected by these closings. “I will work tirelessly with state and local officials and all government agencies to continue our efforts to generate new, good jobs in our area. We held workshops for displaced Monaco workers both (Thursday and Friday), and we will continue to exhaust all resources and pursue every opportunity to help the community recover from these factory closings.” Keystone RV announced a layoff of 290 employees Friday morning. The company will retain approximately 2,600 employees.

Keystone -- Lays off 10% of workforce.

Goshen News Keystone RV cuts 290 jobs By JESSE DAVIS THE GOSHEN NEWS Keystone RV announced a layoff of 290 employees from across its 15 plants in Goshen this morning. The layoffs are effective immediately. “We’ve held out on making any kind of move like this throughout the summer, but as we looked to the fall and winter, a slower season, we needed to make an adjustment,” Keystone RV president and Chief Executive Officer Ron Fenech said. Despite the reduction in force, no facilities will be closed. One plant is in the process of being converted to manufacure a new lightweight RV, but will also remain open. “For us, it’s a matter of things slowing down in some of the industry,” Fenech said. “In the past we’ve been able to hold it together. Our goal has been to never have to lay off anyone during slow months. We’d just like to express how difficult these choices are for us. We value the importance of holding our team together. This year it’s impossible to do, however that doesn’t make it any easier.” This is the fifth layoff by an RV manufacturer since Newmar laid off 163 of its employees in June. Dutchman Mfg., Monaco and Sundowner have all experienced layoffs and plant closings. More than 2,000 jobs have been eliminated and a possible five plants closed so far. Keystone will retain 2,600 of its employees.

RE: Extended Warranties or Service Contracts

We had a plan thru Warranty Experts, paid about $1675 on our 4 year old 98 Intruder. In 3 years of the 4 year plan they paid out about $3500 with about $200 additional out of pocket in deductibles. We just paid for the 1st year of a Good Sam ESP at $906, renewable for 4 years and additional 12 years available. $500 deductible, but we purchased for peace of mind vs engine or tranny failure. Warranty Experts were out this time due to many consumer complaints found on the web. Many plans I checked out were for 4 to 7 years starting 30 months ago at purchase date of the Tiffin.

RE: My comparison on fuel

I sure hope I never get to the point where I am bored enough to worry about mpg to the extent that many of these posters exhibit. FLY BOY --------------------------------------------------------------------- Who said anyone was WORRIED about MPG. Don't you ever check just to make sure your engine doesn't need to be tuned up. A check on MPG can keep you from haveing to sprnd a lot of money on repairs or just plain wasting fuel if you don't keep your engine tuned up properly. As to Bio Diesel or Soy Diesel, some have said that they get better mileage from Bio Diesel. I havent tryed it yet, but I intend to soon, and yes I will track it just as I do other fuel. RE: Morgantown, West Virginia

There is a very small RV park, Mt Morris RV Park at PA exit 1 on I-79. We would stop at on the way to DC to visit our daughter while she was in college. It would be have easy access to the center of town.

RE: Hello Middle and Western Tennessee RV'ers

We'll be through the area about the 1st or 2nd week of October. We're signed up for the Gypsy Journal Rally the week of the 13th in Celina Ohio. The next week is our twice yearly trips to all of our Doctors close to INDY, before a final few days in Goshen to close up our "storage unit" for 6 months. We might have to hang around a while to get an apartment rented, since we may have one open up September 1. As far as your dates. Don't ask for forum input, just set a date for your rally and see who shows up. You can't match everyone's schedule. We've have just set the date for the past five years for the RV Capital Rally that was started by Bagman six years ago. We've had 25-30 RVs show up each year. We will be running up I65 from Red Bay next Thursday I believe. On Edit: Don't have to watch the beer unless it's fake beer, no buzz allowed here. However you better watch out for the supply margaritas, Sea Breezes and wine, where Scottiemom is concerned.

RE: Booked to go to RGV this winter! Questions?

The Happy Hours are usually on your or another Winter Texans patio. Much planning & exchance if brilliant info occurs at these sessions. I guess, I was mistaken. I could have sworn all Happy Hours were at the Moderator's, just like he pays most bar tabs. Oh well, I'll just follow Scottiemom to find the party

RE: Booked to go to RGV this winter! Questions?

The huge burger at Granny's is quite the sight but I think the Gonzales Burger is a better burger by far. You are correct...the drive to Granny's is 2 blocks for us. But the 20 miles to Gonzales is worth the spent fuel.

RE: Ants? bug bombs don't affect them, suggestions?

Try Terro Liquid Ant Bait. Works for us everytime with ant problems inside. They will have a party in the little bait tray and run back and forth until the colony is dead. I bought a box of six at Lowes for $5.99 in the garden section a couple of days ago..ants are gone already.

We just may take you up on your offer. We travel to NE MS and NW AL several times a year. We were within 20 miles of your location in mid-June.

RE: How big does the stick have to be.

My late mother was a diabetic for 68 years. Passed away 4 years ago at 74 in a nursing home. She had been a resident for 3 years and was on peritoneal dialysis for 3.5 years. Which lead to amputation of both legs in the 1st 6 months and going blind within 18 months of entering the nursing home. Get the blood sugar under control.
